For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when South Lake and Lincoln meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 38-4 margin over the Abes. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Madison made easy work of Sterling Heights on Friday and carried off an 18-2 win.
Landon Wargo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Eavan Olceski, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Olceski has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Shawn Dennis was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .550 or higher in four consecutive contests.
South Lake's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Madison, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
