Football Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe fell victim to Taft and their airtight defense on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Toreadors. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Toreadors: they've now lost three in a row.

Taft's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Swinson, who threw for 239 yards and four TDs on only 15 passes. Swinson has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another receiver making a difference was Sammy Perry, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Taft, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Monroe will head out on the road to face off against Belmont at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Taft, they will welcome Arleta at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
