Basketball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Firebaugh Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the McLane Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Firebaugh Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (McLane: 29.5, Firebaugh: 28.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

McLane's usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Torres offense got past them. McLane was dealt a 59-15 loss at the hands of Torres on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Toros: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Firebaugh waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They managed a 32-26 victory over the Tribe. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

Firebaugh's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for McLane, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

McLane strolled past Firebaugh when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 49-35. Will McLane repeat their success, or does Firebaugh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
