Football Game Preview: St. Paul Indians vs. Marmaton Valley Wildcats

The St. Paul Indians will head out to challenge the Marmaton Valley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Paul beat Waverly 28-24.

Meanwhile, Marmaton Valley entered their tilt with Crest on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lancers 56-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Lancers are ranked 93rd).

Marmaton Valley's win came from a few key players St. Paul will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyler Lord, who rushed for 107 yards and three scores, and also threw for 74 yards and one touchdown on only seven passes. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Cooper Scharff was another key player, gaining 141 total yards and three touchdowns.

St. Paul's record now sits at 3-4. As for Marmaton Valley, their record is now 6-1.

St. Paul was dealt a bruising 68-20 defeat at the hands of Marmaton Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Indians, Brayden Lawson (who rushed for 156 yards and four TDs on only six carries, and also threw for 255 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
