Basketball Game Preview: Westview Wolverines vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons

The Westview Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Westview will be strutting in after a win while Cathedral Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Westview was fully in charge, breezing past Poway 71-36. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Titans are ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 64 points the game before, Cathedral Catholic was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were outmatched by La Jolla Country Day and fell 47-20. The Dons' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Westview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Cathedral Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

Westview strolled past Cathedral Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 69-54. Will Westview repeat their success, or does Cathedral Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
