Soccer Recap: South Gwinnett Takes a Loss

If South Gwinnett was feeling good fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Grovetown last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Heritage Patriots who were credited with the victory on Friday. The Heritage Patriots got it done in the shootout by posting eight goals to the South Gwinnett Comets' seven. South Gwinnett were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Heritage earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

South Gwinnett's goal came courtesy of Shiloh Murphy, who's now up to ten this season.

South Gwinnett's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Heritage, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Looking ahead, South Gwinnett will be playing in front of their home fans against Grayson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Gwinnett's defense better be ready for this one: Grayson has averaged an impressive 5.5 goals per game this season. As for Heritage, they will venture away from home to face off against Woodland at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
