Recap: Brockway Rovers vs. Johnsonburg Rams

If the Brockway Rovers were feeling good off their 60-32 takedown of the Curwensville Golden Tide on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Brockway fell to Johnsonburg 51-46. Brockway was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Johnsonburg apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Brockway lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kalina Powell, who scored six points along with seven steals. Powell is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Schmader, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Brockway were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnsonburg only pulled down two offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Maria Casilio, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for Johnsonburg. That's the first time this season that Casilio scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lily Myers, who scored eight points.

Brockway now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Johnsonburg, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brockway won't have much time to rest: their next match is against DuBois Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on December 21st. DuBois Central Catholic will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Johnsonburg will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brookville at 7:15 p.m. on January 15, 2024.
