Basketball Recap: Octavia Orndoff and Veronica Erilim Secure Win for River Islands

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Venture Academy, River Islands was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They snuck past the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats with a 40-34 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-27 back in January.

River Islands was led to victory by Veronica Erilim and Octavia Orndoff. Erilim dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards, while Orndoff dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. The Riptide are 3-1 when Orndoff posts ten or more boards, but 7-16 otherwise.

River Islands smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

River Islands' win bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

River Islands will square off against Ripon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ben Holt College Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
