Highland is a perfect 10-0 against Civic Memorial since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Highland has given up an average of 34.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Highland is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Triad on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs lost 42-22 to the Knights. The Bulldogs were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Knights in the fourth quarter 8-0.

The losing side was boosted by Blake Gelly, who threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 40 yards.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Waterloo 49-20. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 137th).

Highland will need to focus on slowing down Parker Parnell, one of several Civic Memorial players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 79 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Evan Spurgeon handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Civic Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Highland against Civic Memorial in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 63-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
