Softball Recap: Hayden Takes a Loss

Hayden dropped their record down to 13-15 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Joseph City Wildcats, falling 24-2. The Lobos were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Wildcats' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Joseph City, they pushed their record up to 26-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 contests by eight runs or more this season.

For Joseph City's part, Lorelai Sander made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Sander was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on April Neill, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Audrey Neill, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Hayden does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Joseph City, they have already played their next game, an 11-10 victory against St. David on the 12th.
