Softball Recap: Arvada West Comes Up Short

Arvada West lost against Chatfield back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Chargers since October 14, 2022.

Morgan Farr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arvada West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macie Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Arvada West and nudges their season record down to 13-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Chatfield, they pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Arvada West is set to square off against their familiar foe Bear Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chatfield will challenge rival Ralston Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
