Gross Catholic barely beat Fairbury the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Jeffs 12-1 on Saturday. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Clara Meeker looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brynn Hofmann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Macey Earnest was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Gross Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
