Little League World Series star Mo’ne Davis makes high school basketball debut as eighth-grader

Shutdown pitcher and summer media sensation switches gears to hoops for Philadelphia's Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Mo'ne Davis burst onto the national scene over the summer after becoming the first girl to pitch a shutout and earn a victory at the Little League World Series.

Her exploits earned her a spot on the cover of Sports Illustrated and mentions in nearly every major national media outlet.

Davis took the next step in her athletic career this weekend, debuting as an eighth-grader for the varsity basketball team at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Philadelphia). She scored three points in the team's opener Friday, a 51-22 victory over Princeton Day (N.J.).

MaxPreps was on hand Saturday as the Blue Devils faced Perkiomen (Pennsburg). Davis played significant minutes in the contest and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy moved to 2-0 on the season. See her in action below.
