Basketball Game Preview: Rock Academy Warriors vs. Pacific Ridge Firebirds

Rock Academy is on a three-game streak of home losses, Pacific Ridge an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Rock Academy Warriors will host the Pacific Ridge Firebirds at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rock Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Escondido Charter on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Rock Academy had to suffer through a 72-21 loss at the hands of Escondido Charter. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Rock Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brooke Rodrigues went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and three steals. Rodrigues continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Pacific Ridge was beaten by Santa Fe Christian 56-16 on Wednesday. The Firebirds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-5.

Rock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Pacific Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.
