Basketball Recap: Union City Bears vs. Saegertown Panthers
The Union City Bears were the 45-31 winner over the Saegertown Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Union City fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 42-40. Union City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Union City saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Vantassel scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Greer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Saegertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union City will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Youngsville has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Saegertown, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maplewood will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
