Softball Game Preview: Enid Plainsmen vs. El Reno Indians

The Enid Plainsmen are taking a road trip to challenge the El Reno Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enid's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so El Reno's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Monday just wasn't the day for Enid's offense. They lost 12-0 to Choctaw on Monday. The Plainsmen have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

El Reno came out on top against Clinton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Indians walked away with a 7-3 win over the Red Tornadoes. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Red Tornadoes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Zoey Pawnee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, El Reno let Maddy Brinkman and Brailynn Vickery run wild. Brinkman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Vickery went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Brinkman a new career-high. Izzy Birdsong was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Enid's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for El Reno, their win bumped their record up to 10-15.

Everything went Enid's way against El Reno in their previous matchup back in August, as Enid made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Plainsmen since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
