Basketball Recap: Scripps Ranch Takes a Loss

Scripps Ranch was the 62-46 winner over Morse when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Scripps Ranch Falcons fell just short of the Morse Tigers by a score of 39-37 on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Tigers are ranked 398th).

When it comes to explaining why Scripps Ranch lost, don't look at Ree Ree Davis. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points and three steals. Davis has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sammy Cook, who put up ten points and six boards.

Scripps Ranch's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 17-7. As for Morse, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Falcons face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Morse does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
