Baseball Recap: Flat Rock Comes Up Short

Flat Rock extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 10-13. They lost 9-3 to the Carlson Marauders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 19, 2025.

As for Carlson, their win was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

For Carlson's part, Keith Salisbury made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Salisbury has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Rankin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Mason Szozda was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Flat Rock will venture away from home to challenge Huron at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Carlson, they will head out to square off against Taylor at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last six games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
