Basketball Game Preview: Del Oro Suns vs. Arvin Bears

The Del Oro Suns just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Arvin Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arvin took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Oro, who comes in off a win.

Del Oro will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Delano, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Del Oro walked away with a 38-29 win over Delano on Monday.

Del Oro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ke'Mani Welch, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Reynna Arizmendi, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, Arvin unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against North, falling 55-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered since December 26, 2024.

Del Oro will have to contain Mariana Soto as she made an impact in Arvin's last game. She dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds. Those 13 points gave Soto a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberly Ochoa, who put up nine points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Arvin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Arvin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

Del Oro took a serious blow against Arvin in their previous matchup on January 10th, falling 42-14. Can Del Oro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
