Basketball Recap: Harrison Central Comes Up Short

The Harrison Central Red Rebels came up short against the Independence Tigers on Saturday and fell 63-51. The Red Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Harrison Central lost, don't look at Ke'Adrian Brown. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jasen Pace, who posted seven points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks.

Independence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haymann Milton, who put up 19 points. Jayden Anderson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

Harrison Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Independence, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Harrison Central will head out to challenge South Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Independence, they will venture away from home to take on Mt. Hermon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
