Soccer Game Preview: Humboldt vs. Eagle Grove

The Humboldt Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Eagle Grove Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Humboldt knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Eagle Grove likes a good challenge.

Humboldt barely beat South Hardin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Tigers on Monday. Humboldt haven't had any issues with South Hardin recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, neither Eagle Grove nor Hampton-Dumont/CAL could gain the upper hand on Monday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Humboldt pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three matchups. Eagle Grove's draw makes their record 1-1-2 this season.

Humboldt took their win against Eagle Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
