Basketball Recap: Aisha Muibi Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Simon Gratz

Academy at Palumbo posted their biggest victory since January 3rd on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 52-28 margin over the Simon Gratz Bulldogs. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.

Academy at Palumbo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aisha Muibi out in front who posted 15 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Muibi is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Soleil King, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points and seven boards.

Academy at Palumbo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Zakkiyah Lucas and Alana Wilkerson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lucas earned 12 points, while Wilkerson scored ten points. That was a full 35.7% of Simon Gratz's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Academy at Palumbo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Simon Gratz, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Coming up, Academy at Palumbo will be playing in front of their home fans against West Philadelphia at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Simon Gratz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
