Recap: Grant Pacers vs. Sheldon Huskies

The Grant Pacers's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 57-49 victory over Sheldon. Given Grant's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Sheldon is ranked 657th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalaysia Clements led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. Clements is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Asia Washington, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Evans, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Mariah Smith was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Grant pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Sheldon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Grant's road trip will continue as they head out to face Del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Sheldon and Christian Brothers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Christian Brothers is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
