Baseball Recap: Leyden Eagles vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs
Leyden got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs by a score of 6-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

Christopher Matz looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Leyden's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Julian Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Nicky Cozzi was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 4-9. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
