Basketball Recap: Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks vs. Rutherford Rams
Port St. Joe unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to the Rutherford Rams 57-53. The Tiger Sharks haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Port St. Joe saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zay Jenkins earned 15 points along with three steals. Jenkins has been hot , having posted three or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Reese, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
The win got Rutherford back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Joe will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge North Bay Haven Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rutherford has already played their next game (against Port St. Joe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
