Softball Recap: North Platte Takes a Loss

North Platte was the 5-2 winner over Standing Bear when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 8-4 to the Grizzlies on Thursday.

Abby Stiffler and Lauren Bowers did some serious damage despite the final result: Stiffler went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Bowers got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Bowers has snagged this season.

North Platte has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Standing Bear, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Looking ahead, North Platte will take on Highway 6 in a tournament on Saturday. As for Standing Bear, they will face off against Elkhorn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
