Softball Recap: North Murray Gets the Win

North Murray hadn't done well against Ringgold recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Mountaineers had just enough and edged out the Tigers 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Mountaineers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Chanley Langham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, North Murray's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lily Beavers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Beavers has posted over her last ten contests.

North Murray has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ringgold, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

North Murray and Ringgold could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Mountaineers (ranked 235th) will meet Sonoraville (ranked 22nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ringgold will face off against Rockmart at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (240 vs. 40).
