Baseball Recap: Clarke Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cedar Shoals

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clarke Central). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cedar Shoals Jaguars a 16-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Macon Davis and Colton Eberhard made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Davis struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Eberhard pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Davis has allowed since back in February of 2024. At the plate, Davis went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double, while Eberhard scored two runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, Eberhard posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Siegmund, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Asher McElhannon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Clarke Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Cedar Shoals is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarke Central will square off against Hebron Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cedar Shoals, they will face off against East Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
