Softball Recap: Resurrection Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Resurrection Christian's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Platte Valley Broncos as they made off with a 15-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jailah Hamilton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hamilton was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Francis, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Resurrection Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Valley only posted an OBP of .370.

Resurrection Christian's record is now 7-9. As for Platte Valley, they moved to 10-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Resurrection Christian and Platte Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Cougars will take on University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (105 vs. 17). Meanwhile, Platte Valley (ranked 106th) will meet Eaton (ranked 12th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
