Soccer Game Preview: Roland-Story vs. Marshalltown

The Roland-Story Norsemen will venture away from home to face off against the Marshalltown Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roland-Story has five straight victories, Marshalltown has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Roland-Story's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over Des Moines North. Roland-Story's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five contests.

Meanwhile, Marshalltown didn't have quite enough to beat Hoover on Tuesday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that Marshalltown have lost by just one goal.

Marshalltown's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Roland-Story, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Everything went Roland-Story's way against Marshalltown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Roland-Story made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Norsemen since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
