Mars skates past Laurel with ease

The Mars Fightin' Planets had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by Laurel on the road to the tune of 66-20. With Mars ahead 46-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Mars can attribute much of their success to Vita Vargo, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Alexis Cashdollar, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.

Mars' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Mars will square off against Mercyhurst Prep at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Laurel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sharpsville at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st.
