Baseball Recap: Monroe Area Falls to Walnut Grove in First Game of Season

Monroe Area had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 11-3 to the Walnut Grove Warriors on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Purple Hurricanes of the 13-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

Monroe Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Vandiver, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe Area will venture away from home to challenge Discovery at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walnut Grove, they will square off against East Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
