Softball Recap: Window Rock Fighting Scouts vs. Chinle Wildcats
Window Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chinle Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Fighting Scouts have lost by just one run.
Robyn Billison put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those three hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Ryleigh Owens made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Window Rock's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Chinle, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
Window Rock wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 defeat against Joseph City on the 19th. As for Chinle, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-8 win against Pinon on the 14th.
