Live - and final - scores for Week 5 of the Colorado high school football season

No. 1 vs. No. 2. It doesn't get any better than that, right?

That's what we have in the state's top two classifications this week as we hit the midpoint of the regular season.

In Class 4A, No. 2 Ponderosa (Parker) will make the short trip south to take on the classification's top-ranked team in Palmer Ridge (Monument) (No. 6 overall in the state). Ponderosa, ranked seventh overall in Colorado, is coming off a big win against 5A powerhouse and city rival Legend (Parker).

In 5A, No. 2 Ralston Valley (Arvada) continues its punishing schedule at three-time defending champion and top-ranked Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village). The Mustangs already have played and beaten third-ranked Grandview (Aurora), and last week rallied in the fourth quarter to beat No. 5 Regis Jesuit (Aurora) 29-28.

Regis Jesuit has had a stout schedule of its own and gets another tough task at eighth-ranked Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch).

Other games involving ranked teams: No. 15 Montrose at 13th-ranked Lutheran (Parker), and No. 21 Rock Canyon (Highlands Ranch) visiting No. 18 Arapahoe (Centennial).  Another sneaky good game in the 4A ranks features unbeaten Bear Creek (Lakewood) at No. 12 Fruita Monument.
