Soccer Game Preview: Highland vs. Justin Garza

The Highland Scots will venture away from home to take on the Justin Garza Guardians at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Highland will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Justin Garza better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Highland really get things going. Highland put the hurt on South with a sharp 5-0 win on Friday. The Scots' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven contests.

They hit South with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Melissa Flores (2), Tatianna Rivas, Sharon Moncada, and Roxie Salas.

Meanwhile, Justin Garza has been on a difficult stretch since their win on November 25. They and Sunnyside finished up their matchup with a 0-0 draw on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Guardians as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Highland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. Justin Garza's draw makes their record 2-6-3 this season.

Highland skirted past Justin Garza 1-0 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
