Baseball Recap: Jonesville Gets the Win

After losing to Manchester the last time they met, Jonesville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Comets came out on top against the Flying Dutchmen by a score of 7-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Maverick Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Baker was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carson Young and Ian Doyle did most of the damage at the plate: Young went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Doyle went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Young has posted since back in May of 2025.

Jonesville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Jonesville's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Manchester, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jonesville will host Quincy at 12:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Manchester, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Britton Deerfield at 4:00 p.m.
