Preview: Alhambra Moors vs. Bell Gardens Lancers
Alhambra has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Bell Gardens Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bell Gardens took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Alhambra, who comes in off a win.
Alhambra scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on San Gabriel with a sharp 60-35 win. Alhambra has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.
Alhambra's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Megan Lai led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Lai is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Jackson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Bell Gardens came up short against Schurr on Tuesday and fell 44-37. Bell Gardens has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The win got Alhambra back to even at 7-7. As for Bell Gardens, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Alhambra opened the new year with a less-than-successful 59-47 loss to Bell Gardens. Can Alhambra avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
