Basketball Recap: South Iredell Comes Up Short

South Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Lake Norman Wildcats, falling 76-36. The Vikings were probably out for revenge after losing 80-26 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, South Iredell had strong showings from Ryder Block, who posted 12 points, and Evan Crater, who earned three points. What's more, Crater also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Lake Norman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Arnold, who had 14 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Tre Mckinnon, who put up 18 points and three steals.

South Iredell's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lake Norman, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Iredell will host West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Lake Norman, they will be playing at home against Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Norman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Mooresville likes a good challenge.
