Softball Recap: Mason City Takes a Loss

Mason City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 10-1 to the Decorah-North Winneshiek Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mohawks of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2023.

Mason City's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Decorah-North Winneshiek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Coming up, Mason City will welcome Fort Dodge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dodgers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mohawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Decorah-North Winneshiek, they will venture away from home to take on Waverly-Shell Rock at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.4, the Go-Hawks 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
