Football Recap: Northeastern Skates Past Madison Plains with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeastern). They breezed past the Madison Plains Golden Eagles to the tune of 60-18 on Friday. The win was just business as usual for the Jets, who after five games remain undefeated this season.

Northeastern had a senior duo take command as Diezel Taylor threw for 403 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and Jacoby Newman picked up 277 receiving yards and five scores. With that strong performance, Newman is now averaging an impressive 2.4 receiving touchdowns per game. Kaleb Moone was another key player, picking up 100 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Northeastern's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Madison Plains, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Northeastern is set to challenge their familiar foe West Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Taylor and Austin Buescher. Meanwhile, Madison Plains will take on rival Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
