Softball Recap: Cassville's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Cassville dropped down to 10-4 on Thursday, ending the team's nine-game streak of wins. They lost 13-3 to the McDonald County Mustangs. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this matchup were averaging 3.43 runs allowed.

Cassville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Stoufer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Madi Yockey was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for McDonald County, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On McDonald County's side, Dakota O'Brien was excellent, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Shianne Starr, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Cassville will face off against Bolivar at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. McDonald County will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' game: after the Wildcats face off against the Liberators, they'll take on McDonald County again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
