Basketball Recap: Point Loma Comes Up Short

Point Loma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Patrick Henry Patriots 59-24. The Pointers lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-43 score last time.

Point Loma lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hannah Smith, who posted four points in addition to 16 rebounds and four blocks. Smith has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played.

Taylor Perry was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Honey Smith, who put up nine points.

Point Loma's record now sits at 4-13. As for Patrick Henry, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Point Loma will host Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick Henry has already played their next matchup (against Crawford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
