It was another big night for Nevada Gloystein, who rushed for 254 yards and three TDs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 123.6 rushing yards per game. Brooks Burgess was another key player, gaining 84 total yards and three touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Heartland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Heartland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Weston Panko, Burgess, and Waylon Tessman picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, McCool Junction waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 52-36 victory over the Raiders.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Carson McDonald and Mason Reed. McDonald had a great game and rushed for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Reed was balling out in the loss, throwing for 207 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 62 yards.
Heartland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for McCool Junction, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Heartland was dealt a bruising 52-6 loss at the hands of McCool Junction in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McDonald, who rushed for 164 yards and four scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 114 yards and one touchdown.
