Football Game Preview: Newton Railroaders vs. Arkansas City Bulldogs + Official Tickets

The Newton Railroaders are taking a road trip to take on the Arkansas City Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Newton after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They and Hutchinson were almost perfectly matched up, but the Railroaders suffered a 15-14 defeat. The Railroaders haven't had much luck with the Salthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kolbie Espada, who threw for 103 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 62 yards. Newton also got a significant boost from Kingston Henry, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.

Meanwhile, Arkansas City scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goddard. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Lions are ranked 47th).

Newton's record now sits at 0-7. As for Arkansas City, their record is now 1-6.

Newton might still be hurting after the 26-0 loss they got from Arkansas City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Railroaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
