Basketball Recap: South Mountain Jaguars vs. Greenway Demons
South Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Greenway Demons on the road by a 73-56 margin. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Demons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2015.
Greenway's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gauge Rinehart led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Carlos Diaz was another key player, going 8 for 15 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.
South Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Greenway, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
South Mountain will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. As for Greenway, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-41 defeat against Cortez on the 27th.
