Basketball Recap: Alexa Bello Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dinuba, Tulare Western was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hanford Bullpups as the Tulare Western Mustangs made off with a 53-33 victory. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 39-35 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tulare Western's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexa Bello, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Bello a new career-high in steals. Annette Lopez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Tulare Western's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 12-7. As for Hanford, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Tulare Western didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-45 win against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on the 18th. As for Hanford, they will head out to face off against Mission Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Oak will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hanford surely won't give up without a fight.
