Volleyball Game Preview: Manzano Monarchs vs. La Cueva Bears

Manzano hasn't had much luck against La Cueva recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Monarchs will square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Manzano made easy work of Capital and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Manzano was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.

Meanwhile, La Cueva faced Los Lunas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tigers.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-14, 25-16.

Manzano's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for La Cueva, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.

Manzano might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from La Cueva when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Monarchs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
