Softball Recap: Mount St. Mary Takes a Loss

After flying high against Anadarko on Friday, Mount St. Mary came back down to earth. The Rockets fell just short of the Chickasha Fighting Chicks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Rockets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Madeline Jones put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Jones was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayla Daniels, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Mount St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Chickasha, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Mount St. Mary will challenge Pauls Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chickasha, they will take on Marlow at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
