Fairfield Prep extended their winning streak to 18 on Monday, bumping them up to 21-1. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Cheshire Rams. The Jesuits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Anthony Pavano tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

At the plate, Fairfield Prep got a massive performance out of Vinny Lombardo, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Lombardo a new career-high. Ryan Ventrelle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Fairfield Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

As for Cheshire, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 3.79 runs allowed.

On Cheshire's side, they got a good showing from Michael Delaney, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Cal Battipaglia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Fairfield Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheshire, they will square off against Southington at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
