Softball Recap: Northeast's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Northeast had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Fayette Falcons. For the Bearcats, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Olivia Cross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cross wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaycee David, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Northeast's record now sits at 10-3. As for Fayette, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Northeast will take on Moberly at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fayette, they will challenge Paris at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
